Ok so im looking to purchase a new grill, a good one. Im willing to spend up to $2500, maybe a little more/less who knows. Anyone have any good recommendations? I live on the beach so grilling is a year-round affair, and i usually fire it up a lot during summer when friends are over. Im looking at something that has a fairly large cooking surface, stainless steel grill, rotisserie, rear & side burner, and all the goodies. I also need it on a stand.
Anyone have any good experience or recommendations with grills??? So far i've looked at Jenn Air, Lynx, and the Turbo series from BBQ Galore. I dont want to buy one again for a long long time.
Oh yea, anyone have any experience with ceramic briquettes?
And no, i dont want to buy that one Manny Ramirez was selling off eBay. ;)

This might get you started, although the research mostly deals with mainstream grills. I've found consumersearch to be a very good source of info.

?? It's only a 4ft cooking deck. It's not really that big.
But, if you want to go all out, this place builds the cadillac of smokers/cookers

Without going into a long drawn out message about what is better and why...
This website has a huge selection of all kinds of quality, from cheap to stupid expensive and they include "Free Shipping" on many of their items. Give it a look and I have no idea if their prices are that good, but hey... Free Shipping of a big grill is always nice... http://www.bbqguys.com/category_Gas_Grills_path_7119-7521.html

Oh, come on... Let's start a good ol fight about why charcoal is better than gas :D

OK then...
Charcoal... I prefer it 6 days out of the week. Slow set-up time and wait time to actual cooking time from flame up can be long. Plus the clean-up can be a pain in the arse.
Gas... Better heat distribution and heat regulation. Quick start up from flame on and little clean up.
But... even with the obvious advantages to gas... I still prefer charcoal. Something about that "Flame Kiss" and standing there with a beer watching the fire just draws me in everytime.
I actually stop randomly as I pass by houses doing cookouts and walk up to the wanna-be grill master on station and critique his every move until asked to leave... usually by some biker looking guy named Bud who seems really pissed at me for some reason.
Viva la charcoal

When given the option, I always go coals -namely for the "kiss" as Sloan pointed out. BUT, it is a hassle and not nearly as convenient if you wanna fire up the grill at the last moment...I have a beat up old Weber kettle tht we left in the hold of my buddies boat for when we go camping in the Gulf Islands...That thing is beat to shit but peeps love the results :) Plus, with unlimited firewood, coals are always easy to come by.

I use my Weber Genesis Silver 3-4 times a week, year round. I've had it for 4 years now and it remains the ultimate in GGs. Easy to use, easy to clean, great cooking every time. I only spent $400 for it... in your price range you could bump up to the Summit series... like this:

I have a Char-Broil gas grill and a Weber charcoal grill. The gas grill had cermamic briquettes... After about 4 months I replaced them with lava rocks. I placed them at angles around the flames to deflect the heat in all different directions and they are a deep red in color which I like, because the ceramic bricks are all gray and to me it always looked like my nice clean gas grill was dirty. This is definitely a personal thing and I am not knocking that the ceramic is supposed to be better than the lava rocks for heat eveness and reduction in flare ups... But... The bottom of my gas grill seriously looked like my charcoal grill after about a month of use... Built up gray mess on the all over the bottom.
Just a personal preference I guess.

Im thinkin about going for the 5 Burner Turbo Elite from BBQGalore.com. Seems like 90% of all the new homes here in OC are have built-in Turbo's in the backyard. I can take it off its cart and install it as part of an outdoor bar when i build one.
