The AK-47 is the preferred weapon of my enemy and makes a distinctive sound.

Ill have to deffer to the knowledge of those of you that have had to use these weapons when it matters. I personally have never done anymore than ranges in my my and my friends back yards. Hell, I probably couldnt even shoot in the local range here. They dont let you even walk in with a loaded weapon and you have to pay money. There were other rules but I didnt make it reading them all.

Re: Sig 229, 9mm purchased

in the end, its honestly about good shot placement and a reliable weapon more than anything else.

For me, jmb's masterpeice holding (by todays standards) a scant 7 rounds, and weighing more than most combat pistols is a good fit. Im used to it, comfortable with it, and most importantly, proficient with it. I never shoot less than 200 rounds a week through it if I can help it, sometimes more.

That being said, I am also more than confident in my glock 19 and its "puny" 9mm round, because I carry good expanding defense ammo, and again, Im proficient with it.

The 1911 isnt for a novice shooter, you need to know how to maintain the weapon, and its beyond just your average cleaning it when dirty.

Both sigs and glocks are VERY good weapons, and good choices for those who dont have the level of training myself or my coleuges have. That being said, the average armed citizen does not practice nearly as much as they need to. It doesnt matter if your shooting a 50bmg if you cant hit anything with it.

Re: Sig 229, 9mm purchased

I dont shoot as much as you, but Ill assure you that I shoot way more than your average civilian. Us rednecks love our guns and just have to walk to the range in the back yard to shoot. Its just the cost of ammo that limits me these days. On average Ill probably fire off 100-200 rounds a month. compared to you thats not much, but Im sure that I am well above average. Hell Ill bet average comes out to less than that in a year.

Re: Sig 229, 9mm purchased

I just traded for a used 226 not sure the difference in it and the 229, was in about 90% condition so I sent it off to have it refinished. Will post pics when I get it back.
