New Rig

My intel 478 Mobo is toasted after many years of gaming and have looked and just decided to sell everything else for parts.

its been awhile since I built one and I am not sure what to stay away from and whats better then a or b.
If anyone could spare some time and make a few suggestions it would be great.
I am a Intel fan, I loved my Asus mobo till it died had many features, and prefer ATI over Nvid However I am interested in what you have to say, like I said its been awhile.
PC will be used for all games now and ones to come and also music playing and recording.
Willing to spend $1000 -$1200 give or take if i have to I just bought a 600 Watt PSU in March supports sli.
I usually buy my parts from newegg or maybe a suggestion from one of you.
Any feed back is great.

thanks ahead of time

Re: New Rig

From what I gather, ur best best for a proc is the Core 2 Duo. You can find deals on Newegg for MB and proc combos all the time. I'm reticent to suggest this, but check the Fry's ads too. Even though I am wary of buying things at Frys, I did see an ASUS board and core 2 duo (2.2 Ghz I think) combo lat week for $229.

As for RAM, I always recommend either Geil or OCZ.

Nix would be a better person to ask. He knows more about the technology than I do...but then again, he's gonna tell you to get a Mac
