Star Trek

Just saw it in IMAX and loved it.
Great movie in its own right and like Batman seems to have restarted an existing franchise with a bang. Very well-done movie. Or else the giant screen and earth-shaking sound were enough to cover any flaws.

Re: Star Trek

Did it strike you as being a bit reminiscent of Wrath of Khan, or was that just me?

Re: Star Trek

I had only seen the old show a handful of times and just a few old movies, but I really enjoyed this one. Kept me entertained the whole time.

Has gotten great reviews from friends/family that are trekkies or not. Rare that you find a movie like that these days.

Re: Star Trek

Only in that they used the same brain bug.

Funnest movie I've seen in years that also happened to be very good.

Re: Star Trek

SPOILER:

i thought it was a great premise for starting a NEW STAR TREK if they are going to have more w/ these characters (which i presume they will do) since they have essentially wiped the slate CLEAN w/ the parallel reality...the whole time travel thing fucked me up though, it reminded me of First Contact where the Borg wanted to go back in time to kill the guy that made first contact w/ aliens (i haven't seen that one in a long time)

all in all, i think it was awesome...first movie i ever saw at IMAX...i thought the screen would be alot WIDER...it seemed like it was a huge 4x3 format

Re: Star Trek

Star Trek is still the best movie of the summer. Saw Angels and Demons last weekend and thought it was pretty good (not nearly as fun as Star Trek). Anyone see terminator? Heard it was OK...

Re: Star Trek

Twas better than I expected it to be, considering the negative press I had seen.
