I'll sell my '03 explorer sport trac 71,000 miles on it for 12K. It gets 20-22 mpg.

I am looking to get something that gets more like 35-40 mpg.

personally, I have always liked the Nissan trucks, if I was going to go away from the ford/chevy/dodge purchase. But I would be very careful about the gas mileage claims, and see about getting some honest feedaback on what you can expect to see.

with the way gas is moving lately, I say screw the accord and get a little civic. Unless you have a family, then get like an 03 Accord. Might be a little more than 10 Gs, but it'll be worth it in the long run.

If you need a truck, then you're gonna eat it regardless.

Nissan frontiers are great trucks. not a heavy hauler and not a street racer, but plenty of go and room to haul whatever you need. Nissan builds a great truck and it will be error free.

Get the truck. dont go wrong buying something that is a 10k investment. get what you want even if it doesnt get the mileage you want. Dont screw up the first time and regret it.

this

you cannot go wrong with honda or toyota, great milage, and awesome reliability.

Im personally a subaru fan, but will freely admit that both honda and toyota get better mileage and have better resale value retention.

Re: Looking To Buy A New Car

A friend of mine has an older chevy S-10 single cab shortbed 2 wheel drive. It's got a 4 cylinder with manual transmission, and he gets 30-35 MPG on the highway.

Might look into one of those if you have to get a pickup. Otherwise, a car will beat most any pickup in mileage (as long as the car isn't a +400hp muscle car)...
