You'll learn a shitload from this book, and the way Diamond writes, you don't realize nor mind the amount of information. Very sociological, very cool. Incidentally, his previous book called Guns Germs and Steel is being re-released with a "new chapter" in hardcover. I got them in yesterday. I have yet to read that and I think I will check it out of the store when I'm done with Patton and Rommel. Collapse was a look at past/present societies and how they failed/survived based on their level of environmental awareness/resource management skills. Very interesting were the chapters on the Easter Islanders, Vikings, and China (scary when you consider the numbers involved). Definitely worth reading to get a clue as to how our planet is going to face some sort of crisis in the next century.
