30 nations were involved in the Coalition of the Willing, who cares if Chile doesn't support us. h34r:

Quote:
Despite an abundance of evidence--including polls conducted by Gallup International in 38 countries, and more recently by a consortium of leading newspapers in 10 major countries--only 31% of Bush supporters recognize that the majority of people in the world oppose the US having gone to war with Iraq. Forty-two percent assume that views are evenly divided, and 26% assume that the majority approves. Among Kerry supporters, 74% assume that the majority of the world is opposed.

Similarly, 57% of Bush supporters assume that the majority of people in the world would favor Bush's reelection; 33% assumed that views are evenly divided and only 9% assumed that Kerry would be preferred.

A majority of Bush supporters don't give a flying fuck what the rest of the world thinks of their president or their policies whereas most Kerry supporters are in deep angst over whether the peoples of Guayana like Americans or not.
I don't really see the rest of the world as a shining beacon to follow. Their opinions are largely irrelevant. They look at us through the jaundiced eyes of the envious and the spiteful glare of the jealous.

Jingoistic perhaps.
But then... give me a reason to care about what Boris from Slovakia thinks.

ummm hello I deal with quite a few foreign webmasters everyday and I don't talk to too many that are jealous of the United States. In fact most of them laugh at the fact this country is so brainwashed into thinking it's the best.

That's why Chile's waiting list for Visa's to get into the U.S. is years long? And years long in just about every single country? INCLUDING Arab countries?

I guess it's just because we are such a backwards thinking, shit hole.

we seem to be little down the list.. ironic this was in the news today..

LONDON - Ireland is the best country to live in with Switzerland in second spot, according to a sweeping study of 111 nations aimed at comparing happiness around the world.

The survey, produced by the Economist Intelligence Unit and released on Wednesday, showed the quality of life in Ireland well ahead of the United States, which was ranked 13th, and neighboring Britain, which came in at 29th place.

Assuming that wealth is not a finite measure of human satisfaction, the survey is based on complex equations that give precedence to matters of health, well-being, political stability and security. Climate, job security, political freedom, gender equality, and freedom, family, and community life are also taken into account.

That's just the point. I honestly don't give a shit what they think. I live here because I was born here, and because I love it. I've been all over the *******ed world, from Japan to Jordan to Italy. And I like the US. If they don't, that's fine. I don't care. Whether I think the US is a better place for me to live shouldn't bother them either.
It's them thinking I should care about their opinion, or my fellow countrymen thinking I should care that I take issue with.
